Chapter 9
Team seven walked down the path toward the land of
waves. Sasuke stood in front of the group. Naruto stood next to Tazuna while Sakura
stood talking to Kakashi about the ninja villages and kages. Sakura getting the
answers she wanted walked up to Naruto to ask a question that only her blond
teammate could answer.
“Hey, Naruto, can I ask you something?”
“Go ahead.” Naruto said
“Is that woman really your sister?” Sakura asked.
Sasuke was listening in but played that he kept his mind on the job.
“You must mean Anko. No she’s not my real sister but
she kind of like the family I never had so I just call her that.” He answered.
Sakura was a bit stunned at what he said and Tazuna was curious. Back in
Konoha, Anko suddenly felt happy for some unknown reason.
“You mean that you’re an orphan?” Tazuna asked
“Yeah, I never knew my parents but I know that they’re
looking down on me with happy smiles.” Naruto explained.
“Nice attitude Naruto.” Kakashi said with a smile
“So, what did oneesan threaten to cut off if I get
hurt?” Naruto asked his sensei. Kakashi just coughed nervously and turned his
attention back to the task at hand. Naruto just chuckled at his teacher’s
antics. Sakura was confused.
“Sensei, do you know this Anko?” she asked
“Mitarashi Anko is a bit… eccentric.” He said
“Please, she a flipping psycho.” Naruto said bluntly.
Back in Konoha, Anko suddenly felt the urge to kill a small blonde rat. Kakashi
just chuckled at the bold statement. That’s when he noticed the puddle of
water. He kept silent about it and continued to walk. Sakura continued to ask
questions about Naruto’s sister.
“So what did she teach you?” she asked
“Well, there’s the Katon: Kasumi Engo no Jutsu and she
taught me the Katon: Karyudan no Jutsu. That’s about it.” He said. Sakura gave
him a questioning glance. He smirked at her. “You don’t think I would tell you
everything especially with our other teammate listening.” Sasuke flinched and
returned to scanning ahead. Naruto smirked at catching his teammate in the act.
Suddenly all three heard the sound of metal. The turned to see their sensei
wrapped in chains with blades attached to them. The two wore old looking clothes
and mean looking gauntlets. The two pulled apart and the chains ripped Kakashi
apart.
“One down.” One of the offending ninja said. Sakura
screamed in fright as she watched her sensei die. Naruto quickly silenced her
with a slap.
“Get it together. Protect Tazuna.” Naruto ordered and
charged at the two. They smirked under their mask and circled him. Naruto
pulled out two kunais and waited for the attack. As they closed in, Sasuke
jumped into action. He pulled out a shuriken and a kunai. He pinned the chain
to a tree with the shuriken and kept it in place with the kunai. The two
struggled to pull loose when Sasuke landed on their gauntlets. He lashed out
with his feet and caught the two in the jaw. Suddenly they both unhooked the
chain that connected him. The two split up, one went after Naruto while the
other went after Tazuna. Sakura jumped in front of Tazuna with a kunai drawn. Naruto
saw this and acted. He dashed toward the attacking ninja to stop him. His path
was blocked by the ninja that was attacking him but Naruto’s training kicked
in. Moving like a blur, he slashed the attacker in both legs. He saw that
Sasuke moved to protect Sakura and was about to throw his kunai when his
teacher stepped in. With a swift movement, the attacker was swiftly taken out. Naruto
relaxed his guard which almost was his downfall. The ninja he thought that he
disabled gotten up and made a lunge for Naruto. Sakura saw this and acted.
“Naruto, look out!” she exclaimed. Naruto turned and
attempted to block. A kunai whizzed by him and struck the ninja in the arm but
he still managed to nick Naruto’s hand. The ninja pulled the kunai out and
attempted to rise but he was knocked out by Kakashi. Sakura ran over to Naruto
to check any injuries while Kakashi and Sasuke tied up the attackers. Making
sure that they secure, Kakashi walked over to Sakura and Naruto. Sakura saw her
sensei and wondered how he survived.
“That was nice work Naruto. Just nice time, make sure
that he’s immobile.” Kakashi said
“Maybe if you hadn’t run off to hide, we wouldn’t have
to deal with them.” Naruto hissed
“Wait you mean…” she asked
“He used the Kawarimi no Jutsu before they attacked.” Sasuke
said, walking up on them. He looked at Naruto. He had seen how Naruto attacked
and was more curious about his teammate. He was hiding a lot of his skilled and
it annoyed him. Naruto caught him staring and glared at the Uchiha.
“What the hell are you looking at?” Sakura hit him
over the head.
“He’s just worried about you.” She shouted. Kakashi
watched at the two argued but he turned his attention back to the two prisoners
they had.
‘These are no ordinary ninjas. These are the Demon
Brothers, Gozu and Meizu. Why were they after the bridge builder? I believe
that the bridge builder has something to tell us.’

Anko sat at her favorite dango stand with a stick in
her mouth. She sighed in boredom. It had already been two days and she missed
Naruto, not that she would admit it. She missed chasing him around the village
after he did something stupid that she would normally kill someone for. She was
also worried about him. She knew that he could handle a C-rank mission. She
trained him after all but she couldn’t help but worry. She was very much
attached to him and it would take the devil himself to stop her from killing
any one who harmed him. She sighed again and forced herself to relax. She
shouldn’t be concerned too much. He was with Kakashi and he had promised that
he would watch over him after their discussion.
-----Flashback-----
Kakashi was currently held to the side of the wall by
his jounin vest. This wouldn’t be a problem but his limbs were held by snakes. To
him, this would be his ultimate fantasy. If only Anko wasn't glaring at him and
she would remove the kunai from his lower regions.
“Not one scratch on him Hatake. If I find one scratch
on him, I’ll cut them off and not even the Hokage will recognize your remains. You
understand me? NOT. ONE. SCRATCH!!!”
-----Present-----
She knew that Kakashi would keep his word. Feeling a
bit better, she stood up and left to do her favorite hobby. It was called
‘stalking the hot chunin’, not that she did that.

Kakashi shivered for some reason and felt the need to
cover his balls. He was a bit on edge after the story that Tazuna told them.
-----Flashback-----
“So Tazuna, care to explain?” Kakashi asked
“I have no idea what you mean?” he said nervously
“The hell you don’t, you old drunk. Those ninjas were
after you. Why would two chunin level ninjas want with an old drunk like you?” Naruto
asked as Sakura bandaged him. He had earlier found out that he was poisoned by
one of the demon brothers and decided that the easiest way to get it out was to
draw the blood out. So he stabbed himself with a kunai. Sasuke and Sakura
watched as he didn’t even flinch when he did it. Sakura yelled at him and told
that he would bleed out because he cut to deep. Naruto began to freak out and
Sakura had to take care of his injury.
“My loud student is right. Why are former Mist nins
after you?” he asked
“All right, I had lied about my request. I am being
targeted by a man named Gato.” Tazuna explained
“Who is that?” Sasuke asked
“He runs a crime syndicate. Why would he be after
you?”
“If the bridge I’m building is complete, then it would
cripple Gato’s hold on the land of waves.” He said
“I don’t understand.” Sakura said
“With the bridge complete, people from other lands
would want to trade goods. With trade up, income starts to roll in. It also
means unwanted attention for Gato.” Naruto said as best he could. Kakashi again
reminded himself to watch this boy. His sharpness was beginning to unnerve him
a little.
“Yes but we of the wave need that bridge.” Tazuna said
as if he was pleading.
“I can’t say that I pity you but this is way beyond
us. This is a least a B-rank mission and we are just genins.” Sakura explained
“She’s right Tazuna. We would have to return back to
Konoha.” Kakashi said
“Are you serious? We’re just going to turn back? Come
on sensei, we can handle this.” Naruto said
“Naruto this is a bit high for any of you. I admit that
you all did well against the demon brothers but this requires the specialty of
the ANBU black ops. We won’t be fighting chunins this time.” Kakashi explained
“Kakashi-sensei is right, Naruto. We’re too green for
this.” Sakura
said
“So what if
the mission has been upgraded? We can handle it. I have confidence in our
skills to get the old man home and protect him.” Naruto said
“I agree with
him. This is something we can handle.” Sasuke added
“See? Come on,
if Sasuke thinks this will be a piece of cake, then we’ll be find.” Kakashi
looked at his students. He knew that Sasuke only wanted to get stronger and the
challenge of a stronger opponent only fueled him. Naruto probably wished to
prove something to everyone including his oneesan, Anko. Sakura was scared shitless
but she would probably follow Sasuke’s lead.
“It is ok,
kids. Don’t worry about it. I would only be leaving behind my grandson and
daughter if I die. They would probably hate Konoha and all but that’s ok.”
Tazuna said with as much fake sadness he could muster. The group looked at the
man with glares. Kakashi sighed and agreed with his students. Tazuna held a
peace sign up with a smile.
-----Present-----
Kakashi turned
to his students who were hovered over Naruto. He was showing them a kunai with
a tag on it. He smirked under his mask as he noticed that Sasuke acted like he
wasn’t interested and Sakura was processing the info he was describing. He had
to admit that Naruto was the heart of this team. He was still the cocky kid
back at the academy and was even a bit psychotic but he pulled the team
together.
‘Maybe this
won’t be as bad as I’m making it.’ He thought. Boy was he ever wrong.

In a hideout,
in the land of waves, a man sat on a plush couch. He wore no shirt, a pair of
military pants and black sandals. His face was bandaged but it was used as a
mask, not an injury. He had a headband of the mist across his head. He was
holding a huge sword across his shoulder. He was facing a short, big boned man.
He wore a business suit and a pair of shades. He was currently glaring at the
man on the couch.
“So the demon
brothers were defeated by a bunch of genins? That is quite a shock.” The ninja
said
“Your men were
beaten by a bunch of kids. I paid you good money to kill that old man and I
want it done.” The man shouted. The ninja lifted his sword off his shoulder and
pointed it to the man.
“Don’t worry
about it. They probably won because of their jounin instructor. I will deal
with this personally.” He said
“You better or
our agreement is over.” He yelled and left. The ninja smirked under his
bandages.
“This may be
worth my time. What do you think?” he asked a masked person.
“It might be
fun.” The feminine voice said

Anko was
walking with Genma and Ibiki. They had just been given a B-rank mission and
were on their way out. As they left, they saw four ANBU members carrying two
Mist ninjas. She recognized them as the demon brothers. She overheard something
that may her stop.
“Can’t believe that the blonde kid took out this one.”
the ANBU with the hawk mask said.
‘Blonde kid? Could they mean Naruto?’
“Hey Anko, come on. We have a three day trip ahead of
us.” Genma said
“Yeah, yeah, I’m coming. Quit your crying.” Anko
shouted. She caught up with her teammates and left the village. Her mind was a
buzz and a worry was in her heart. She gripped her necklace.
‘You better be all right, you little bastard.’

Team seven was having one hell of a day. Placing
Naruto at point, the blonde scared the shit out of everyone when he threw a
kunai at something. It turned out to be a small white rabbit. As Sakura bashed
Naruto for scaring the poor animal, Kakashi took a closer look at the animal. Its
fur was white and that meant that it was a winter rabbit. It was spring now so
it was taking out of its original settings and used to switch with the Kawarimi.
That’s when he felt the killer intent.
“EVERYBODY, GET DOWN!!!” Kakashi shouted. Naruto
grabbed Sakura and dove. Sasuke did the same thing and grabbed Tazuna. Naruto
popped up and hand two kunais in his hands. Sasuke followed his lead with some
shurikens. Kakashi looked up to see a sword impaled into the tree.
“Holy shit! That’s one big ass sword.” Naruto
exclaimed
“Thank you.” Said a voice and a ninja appeared on the
handle of the blade. Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura tensed and readied themselves.
The ninja looked at Kakashi and smirked under his mask. “Well, this was worth
my time. The famous Hatake Kakashi otherwise known as Sharingan Kakashi.”
“Momochi Zabuza, missing-nin of the Hidden Mist and
demon of the mist.” Kakashi said. Kakashi sighed mentally.
‘Why must I get into these situations?’
