AN: Alright, the urge is still upon me. Here's chapter 2. I was thinking that I would make this fic about 10, 000 words or a little more all together, just so that I can guarantee that I will complete it, but you never know. The people are a little OOC but I just thought it was a little fun so I hope you like it. Anyway, read this and give me some feedback!

Drekko: But of course. Cant' have Naruto appearing the looser now can we?

Chapter 2: Suspicion

A week had gone by since the meeting in the forest. Naruto woke up and found himself lying on the floor beside his bed still in his clothes. He had been too tired last night to undress. Of all the stupid missions you could get he had to get surveillance. He had stayed up all night and watched a building in the neighboring town for signs of activity. People had got together over there so they could afford to hire a ninja to take care of the gangs that were stirring up trouble. The first night he had spent gathering information. 'What a lousy job...' he thought vaguely, stifling a yawn that threatened to break his jaw.

Getting up off the floor he slumped over to the sink without tripping himself and washed his face. He almost fell asleep again brushing his teeth. Dark rings surrounded his eyes he noticed when he glimpsed his sleepy reflection in the mirror, but at the moment he was too tired to care. Too little sleep had its affect.

Somehow he made it out of the front door and even remembered, with his mind half asleep, to lock it. In very un-ninja-like fashion Naruto began to dragg his feet over to the Hokage's office

A few bumps, stumbles and apologies later Naruto began to wake up properly. It was still a while yet until he would reach the Hokage's office he saw as he looked around for the first time and recognized where he was. Putting his hands in his pockets Naruto walked on to the intersection he could see ahead of him.

Hinata was running hurriedly through the town trying to reach Ino's house. Something had happened between her and Shikamaru, and Ino had been crying over the telephone. Oh how she hated all men! They always made things difficult. Angrily she began running harder and suddenly noticed the eyes of more than one man look her over as she passed. She wanted to slap somebody.

Suppressing an angry blush she resolutely ran on. Turning a corner she bumped straight into Naruto's chest and they both fell over in a heap on top of each other. For a second everything slowed for her as she realized where she lay. Her head was on his shoulder and she lying was on top of him on the ground with one of her feet tightly tangled in his, her hand on his chest gripping his jacket trying to get a hold on to something as she had fallen. Even through his jacket she could feel how warm he was. Her breath caught and she quickly got up on her knees, scrambling off of him.

Naruto sat up on the ground and pulled his hands from his pocket. He rubbed the back of his head gingerly. He had broken her fall, but with his hands in his pockets Naruto had been unable to catch himself properly. "Are you okay?" she asked him anxiously. "Yeah, I'm fine," he mumbled, wincing a little as his hand touched a sore spot. He looked up at her. "Are you?" he asked, and completely forgot about his head.

"I'm fine," she said and blushed. He was worried about her. It felt good. If only she could feel this way everyday. Still, she had something to tell him and the prospect wasn't exactly pleasing.

"Sorry, I was just in such a hurry and I didn't see you. I shouldn't have been running."

"It's okay," he said shrugging and giving her an earnest look. "You didn't mean to."

Hinata looked him in the face and gazed at his blue eyes that seemed to sparkle and realized he was staring back at her.

"Is something wrong?" he asked sounding concerned.

She shook her head gently and leaned over to him planting her lips softly on his. His lips were so warm and the warmth spread through her as she kissed him deeper, running her fingers through his blond hair as she always had wanted to do.

She hadn't thought at all, it had happened on impulse. Sitting there beside him had made it feel so right, and it had made her calm as water. Whatever he thought she would accept, but the moment was all that mattered to her now. She felt him kissing her back, and a small tear escaped the corner of her eye. Without noticing she had begun crying. She drew back from him with a last sweet kiss and looked deeply into his face, a tear running down her cheek. His eyes were so sad, so knowing. How could she have thought that she would ever be able to heal what had been done to him? "I'm sorry," she said softly, her voice quivering, and got up quickly and started to run.

Naruto silently watched her leave. She had felt bad for him, he was sure. He had seen it when he looked at her. 'She kissed me,' he thought for the first time, touching his lips as if dumbstruck from heaven. It had been so soft. 'I should have gone after her.'

Slowly he got to his feet and brushed the dust on his clothes off. He felt bad for her too. Regretted that he hadn't done anything. Later he'd have to find her and talk to her. Just the fact that he had a reason to talk to her now made him happy, but because she had been sad, he was. Was this what she had been going to tell him back then? That she liked him?

His mind was buzzing as he started heading towards the Hokage's office.

As Naruto entered Sakura had to jump out of his way to avoid being trampled. He didn't seem to have noticed her because he was obviously thinking about something, which was, she had to admit, a rare sight.

She studied him for a second and came to the conclusion that yes, he was indeed thinking about something, and was in fact having a bit of a problem finding a solution to it if she had interpreted his frown correctly.

"Thinking about somebody?" she asked him slyly. He probably wouldn't mind her poking around a bit.

"N-Not really," he said, snapping to attention and shifting his eyes nervously.

"Oh really?" she said casually, but her eyes held a definite evil tint.

Trying his best to ignore her analyzing look. He strode forward to the secretary's desk. "Would it be okay to see the Hokage?" he asked the ancient secretary who sat before him. She looked at least one hundred and fifty. He waited impatiently as she was finding the necessary forms he needed to fill out. He could feel Sakura's eyes on his back, and swallowed, feeling very uncomfortable. How had she known? 'Is she psychic or something?' he thought, and had the feeling that all women were indeed psychic when the secretary, cackling, asked what girl it was that had him acting so jumpy.

Quickly signing the forms, he stiffly walked into the office, slamming the door shut.

"Interesting..." Sakura mused, smiling knowingly, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

The old secretary cackled in response.

Knocking on Ino's door Hinata heard the sounds of footsteps from inside and then the door opened revealing her friend standing there with a look of 'What's wrong?' on her face. She didn't seem to be crying anymore. "You okay?" Hinata asked.

Ino gave her a concerned look. "What about you?" she asked back. "You've been crying. Did something happen?"

"No, I'm fine," Hinata said, blushing.

Ino silently looked Hinata over, cocking her head to one side. Hinata was rarely this quiet anymore. She didn't blush as often either and definitely not to a question of "did something happen?" unless something had in fact happened.

"So what happened?" Ino asked casually, finding a huge interest in one of her nails.

Hinata gave Ino a very pointed look. Was she expecting her to babble? "Never mind," she said trying to avoid the subject. "What about you and Shikamaru."

"Oh that," Ino said, looking up from her fingernail at Hinata with a smirk. She knew very well what Hinata was trying to accomplish. "It's fixed," she said, waving her hand as if brushing that problem away. No one could better her at small talk, except for perhaps Sakura she had to admit, but that was only half of the time.

"So do you want to come in? I'll put on some tea," Ino offered pleasantly, trying not to sound conspicuous.

Hinata could see the predatory gleam in Ino's eye and she swallowed. Had she let something slip? "S-Sure," she answered politely, stepping in past Ino who shut the door.

"Do I get to know who it is?" Ino asked her curiously, her eyes gleaming.

"K-Know what?" Hinata stammered.

'Interesting...' Ino thought, hiding a little smile, knowing she had hit the mark. She felt happy for her friend of course, but it was necessary for her to know who it was so that she could ensure that it work out. Maybe she would call Sakura later to see if she knew anything.

"Oh, it doesn't matter," she said, faking innocence. The first thing she had to do was finding out who it was, after that it would be a piece of cake...

AN: So how was it? Did it fit with the first chapter at all? I can't tell since I'm the author...

For the record I want you to know that I will include some very juicy bits in this fic as the story evolves. Naru/Hina is definitely the sweetest couple. And, err, sorry if it seemed a bit rushed at the beginning.

Right, my Japanese sucks so if I need it, could some of you translate some techniques or give me some names that aren't lame? I wouldn't know the difference between a lame name and a cool one in Japanese so there you have it. It just feels more right if the techniques are in Japanese, otherwise I'll feel like I did a really bad dub or something.

And one more thing. Is it funny? I mean, I don't intend to give more than a few laughs here and there, but do you laugh at all? O-O

Any reviews you wish to give would be of great help!
